A visit from an Olympic Coach:

Today Callum brought his father for 'show and tell.'
Aaron McIntosh is himself a Sydney Olympic Bronze medallist however he was here to share how he coached Dorian [from The Netherlands team] to a London GOLD medal in windsurfing!!
He told us that they train 200 days a year for the three years leading up to the Olympics!
They are having a month's 'down-time' now and are already thinking about their programme leading up to the Rio games!
Thank you Mr McIntosh for sharing so happily. Callum is so proud of you and you gave us plenty to talk about and to write about. LJ.

The Korean Students are Farewelled:

The 22 students had a special send off on Friday. They received "Goodbye" cards from the five classes they were spread across, entertained us with songs they learned in English, "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "The Silly Hat Store" and impressed us with a haka.
They were presented with 'Graduation Certificates' and we had a heartfelt speech read to us.
It was "Blue" mufti day to think of others and fundraise for Cystic Fibrosis.

Trees For Survival/Enviro-Group Planting Trip:

On Tuesday 7th August 30 enthusiastic middle and senior school children plus 17 adults went to a property at Glenbrook to plant 700 small native trees.  These trees have been nurtured from tiny seedlings over the last year by the TFS group.

The planting of these trees will ensure that future erosion of land into the nearby waterway will be stopped.
The TFS coordinator was very impressed by the enthusiasm and organisation of all who attended.
We had a wonderful day and really enjoyed the delicious food provided by the owners of te property.

Table Manners:

Even if it is a glorious sunny day it can still be cold, so if it is chilly outside we are eating inside the class at morning tea and at lunchtime. An added bonus is that I can reinforce table manners as well!!

You've Got The Power...

Today the whole school enjoyed a visit by a magician and ventriloquist who is spreading the importance of demonstrating values in your life and at school.
He had magic tricks and stories relating to a variety of values that the students could relate to. He was very funny and the students especially enjoyed his tricks involving some BBPS volunteers and those involving his colourful live birds.
