Last Day of Term.

A mufti day was a nice way to finish off a busy and productive term. Many of the students enjoyed Jump Jam in their pyjamas!!  A class of seniors chose their pyjamas as mufti clothes last term and this time many juniors copied them!
I snapped this lovely shot of Room 11 having an end-of-term 'circle reflection time.' LJ.

Jump Rope for Heart:

The whole school thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of skipping and skipping related activities as evidenced by the following photos. Please send along your sponsorship donations as soon as possible.

Maths Roadshow:

All students attended the Maths Roadshow in the hall this week.
It seems to have mixed reviews depending who you talk to.

I can say that the students at the session I went to enjoyed the hands-on aspect of it, as much as the interaction with other students' parents and grandparents who came along to mix and mingle. They also encouraged good oral language at each activity.

I also liked how we mixed two classes of different levels - it allowed for great leadership skills to be acknowledged and utilised, and as always, the younger ones love having attention from older students.
We find that the older students learn more when they have to explain to younger students; it can deepen their understanding as they need to think through responses suitable for younger students.

Our Ambulance visit.

Today, in the morning, everyone in the Junior School Team went to see an ambulance that came to our school.
We saw some bandages and some people in our class got to have some bandages put on them.
We saw the breathing mask and the stretcher come out of the back.
I got to have a short time in the front of the ambulance and I turned a knob and that made the siren go on.
Everyone had a turn doing the siren and the neighbours must have been worried!

Powhiri

A powhiri was held on Monday morning to welcome some special visitors to the school.
The kapahaka, choir and band group made for a very nice start to the week. LJ.
